Our New Display Cases
A grant, successfully applied for from the IMB Bank, purchased new display cases for the museum. Including the beautiful colonial costumes

acquired from descendants of Captain Brooks. These costumes were made around 1870-1910. All wealthy families had to wear mourning wear when members of the Royal Family died, and this dress would have been made for the funeral of Queen Victoria. More dresses are in a temporary showcase, ready for further cabinets being set up.

This military costume was donated from the Boxall family as their forebear, Jeremiah Jones, fought in the Battle of Trafalgar under Lord Nelson.

The Chinese Wedding dress was donated by the Nom Chong family of Braidwood. It is the only known early Chinese wedding dress in the world.
A big thank you to all our sponsors.
